Sonia Kruger On Healthy Ageing And How To Embody An Eternal Glow
Switch on any television show, from Dancing with the Stars, to The Voice or Big Brother and there you will see the ever radiant Sonia Kruger boasting the kind of glow that reaches far beyond the screen.
A woman who lights up any room, she is luminous in spirit and in form, with the kind of radiant energy that boasts confidence, positivity and embodied ease as a woman that truly loves and adores the skin she is in.
With an ever abundant career in television and an age-defying attitude, at 57, Sonia is in our eyes the epitome of goals, both in nature (with a killer career and smile) and in glow factor.
As a woman who is beautiful on the inside and out, is a successful television host, mother and role model for all women surrounding positive ageing, we are not only proud to have her as our tan ambassador but are inspired to learn just how she stays so radiant.
To find out we stole a moment of her time to sit down and find out directly what she does to feel good, age well and embody a year round glow. She spills her secrets below.
Q. Why is self care important and what does it look like for you?
“I find exercising regularly with Strictly You (my online dance platform) is great fun and a feel-good fitness method that’s always beneficial for my mind and body.”
“Beyond that, I always try to get enough sleep each night and splurge on the odd facial when I can.”
Q. What’s your secret to keeping your skin supple and slowing down signs of ageing?
“I use SPF 50 plus every single day - I would put it in my coffee if I could! Generally speaking, I like to apply sunscreen regularly and also have SPF in my moisturiser and foundation.”
“It’s so important to remember sun protection even when it’s not a typically sunny day. I always wear a hat and apply sunscreen every few hours and where possible try to stay out of the sun. Sun damage is potentially life-threatening (and while) Australians have become much better at sun protection, we still live in a country with one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. So it’s never been more important to protect ourselves from the sun and to teach our children about the dangers of sun exposure.”
- What skincare essentials can you not live without?
-
Micellar water cleanser - “My job involves a decent amount of make-up when we are shooting so having a great cleanser to remove it after is always a go-to.”
-
Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel - “I love using Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel as a moisturiser to hydrate my body.”
-
Three Warriors Aqua Tan Face Mist - “I use this face water every day. It’s organic and gives me that perfect level of colour and never stains clothing.” Buy Three Warriors Aqua Tan Face Mist here.
- Lip Balm - “I also can never go past a good quality lip balm!”
Q. What staple foods do you eat to support skin vitality?
“I eat almonds and nuts for healthy fats, leafy green vegetables and salads with homemade dressing (my go-to is lemon juice, chilli flakes and olive oil) and of course I try to drink lots of water too!”
Q. Lastly, what are your tips for radiating confidence?
“Surrounding yourself with good friends and family that give honest feedback and remind you not to take life too seriously.”
“Exercise often. Dancing or taking the dog for a walk always makes me feel more confident and is great for my mental and physical health.”
“Invest in organic self-tan. It’s a great way to find more confidence and achieve an all over glow especially in the warmer months or when I am filming in outfits that tend to show a bit more skin! I love the Three Warriors Self Tan Mousse or the Sonia’s Golden Glow Pack.”
